Since the producers made the decision to let them stay on the island there wasn’t much to do so they spent their days rewatching their favourite sitcoms. They were paid the London living wage to work on their tans and their rent back home was covered too.
Jack put his hand over Dr. Alex’s shoulder who let his head flop down onto Jack’s stomach and he kissed him there and listened to the soft and irregular kicks of their baby. This was their 6th month on the island, there was no more show, just them in the villa, and a few runners, kept on to make sure the couple had everything they needed and to take them into town to go to the local bars or window shopping for baby clothes. But mostly they just sat by the pool and cooked meals for each other.
They weren’t certain they were going to stay together after their baby was born, but nothing in this world can be certain. They’d both changed a lot and were ready to tackle this next stage in their lives whatever it had in store for them.
Were they happy?Sure.
Alex asks Jack for that recipe for lemon meringue. He says that even if they do stay together, or break up but continue to see each other, food is as much about memory as it is about filling a hole in the heart.
